Visualizing my Experience at Amal Fellowship

In March 2021, I started my fellowship journey at Amal Academy. Its sole purpose was to prepare me for my career and improve my soft skills.

Applying for the fellowship itself was an accidental thing for me because I was not ready to start it. I wanted to do it after graduation when I could have less workload than I now have from University. In short, I had to show a big heart and lots of effort if I had got selected and started the fellowship.

I applied, got selected, went through the Orientation session, and then eventually kickstarted a 12-week learning journey. In the starting 2 weeks, I was overwhelmed by the weekly workload as well as by the long weekend sessions. I felt very confused about whether to continue the journey or not. I was learning new things but at the same time not sure whether I will be able to put my full effort into it in the future or not. I was feeling myself stuck in a deep dark jungle (of confusion) having no clarity of where to go, as shown below:

I finally decided to:

i. continue for at least 1–2 weeks and take this journey as a challenge.

ii. analyze results after 2 weeks.

Afterward, when I analyzed the results, I found that my effort was worth it. I found that:

i. I was learning many new things through online courses that I had never heard of before (for example leadership without authority, teamwork, growth mindset, etc.). I guessed that there could be much more useful courses ahead (which proved true in the end).

ii. I was able to practice my speaking and communication skills through sessions.

iii. I was exposed to Amal Principles of Progress that I had never heard of before (and came to know that it was the reason that I had not made so much progress in my career so far)

iv. I went through self-discovery. I set my goals and also started them.

At this moment, I found a mild light of hope (that this fellowship journey can lead me to something great) in the jungle Journey as shown below in the pictures:

Coming towards my progress in this journey at the moment, I have traversed the jungle and now I am at the opposite corner of the jungle with enough light and clear scenes of happiness as shown below:

I have a clear view of myself. I am clear about my future goals. I have prepared enough for my career through the Passenger series at Amal that I can now tackle any assessment/interviews much better than in the past.

I am thankful to the Amal team and especially our facilitators Mam Rabia & Mam Hajra for providing us such an environment, and quality learnings. God bless you all.
